Comedian Bob Mortimer 'not very well' as he gives health update following hospital dash

Comedian Bob Mortimer has said he is 'not very well' after a hospital dash last Saturday.

The 63-year-old, who stars in the BBC show Gone Fishing alongside Paul Whitehouse, underwent a triple heart bypass seven years ago, reports The Mirror. He made the surprise revelation on Richard Herring’s podcast on Tuesday night (September 27), saying: “I am not very well.

"I am not very healthy at the moment. I did a show last week, a fishing show and there was only two and a half days filming and I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday.

“I am sorry I should not have said that should I? It's a real downer.” He added: “I think because I was a smoker and an incredibly fast runner and a very dramatic dancer and I put that all in my younger years.

“I think I am about 10 years ahead of myself with my body ageing.” He said last year: “I did some things after the operation that I wouldn’t have done before. It felt like a brush with mortality. I realised that you are counting down the years.”

Bob, who had a triple bypass in 2015 as his arteries were 95% blocked, said: “I get hundreds and hundreds of, I suppose, thank-yous. ‘Thank you, I’ve just had the operation, and it was great to see there’s life after it’.

It has previously been reported that the 63-year-old is at risk of over 20 cancers due to his weight gain in the new series of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
