Colin Montgomerie leaves golf fans in stitches with hilarious interview about Jelly Babies

Fans were left in stitches after golf star  Colin Montgomerie’ s gave an interview all about Jelly Babies. The 59-year-old has been playing on the Champions Tour since 2013 and most recently participated in the Senior Open at Gleneagles.

During the third round, he made three straight birdies to close out his round of four-under-par 68 to claw himself back into the contest. He eventually finished the event in ninth place at seven under, and the Scotsman explained the sweet treat that helped spark his comeback.

“My caddie, we were talking to Pádraig Harrington about Jelly Babies, actually, and we decided to eat Jelly Babies on the back nine—the best food for everything, apparently,” he said. “His mental, his trainer, his physio. I thought, oh, he's won a few majors so we thought we would do the Jelly Baby trick today.

“And, wow, the Jelly Babies worked. So we're into Auchterarder to buy a load of Jelly Babies to keep us going for tomorrow because the weather is going to be iffy [on Sunday]. So we'll see how we go.” When asked what his favourite flavour is, Montgomerie said: “I avoid the darker ones.

Montgomerie was chasing a fourth over-50s’ major but first in this event, having come close in both 2014 and 2015, when finishing second then third at Royal Porthcawl and Sunningdale respectively.
