Casualty Ward: Halton boost, Castleford blows, Taufua concern & Garc-ear

Keep up to date with the latest injury news in Casualty Ward, this week including Hull KR forward Frankie Halton and Wakefield’s new recruit Jorge Taufua.

Ireland international Frankie Halton is likely to return for their trip to Wigan on Thursday.

However, the Robins could be without prop Greg Richards, utility Jimmy Keinhorst and half-back Mikey Lewis, with all three leaving the field in their 30-22 win at Warrington on Friday night.

Lewis received heavy strapping on his right foot and tried his best to remain on the field, but soon succumbed to the injury. He was on crutches after the game.

Wigan prop Patrick Mago missed their 42-12 defeat at Leeds on Thursday night. As a result, new signing Mike Cooper was a late addition to Matt Peet’s squad. Mago should be okay to face Hull KR on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Leeds winger David Fusitu’a left the field with an ankle injury. The Rhinos will look more closely at Fusitu’a’s injury this week.

The Tigers will be without half-back Gareth O’Brien and forward Alex Mellor for Friday’s derby against Wakefield. The pair failed HIAs in their 46-18 win at Hull on Friday.

Meanwhile, Castleford coach Lee Radford confirmed after the game that long-serving forward Nathan Massey will play no further part in 2022 due to injury.

Huddersfield coach Ian Watson says they will monitor half-back Olly Russell more closely ahead of Saturday’s game against Warrington.

The 23-year-old left the field with a shoulder injury in their 13-12 defeat in Perpignan against Catalans on Saturday.

Scotland international Danny Addy will play no part in this autumn’s World Cup after suffering a season-ending injury whilst playing for Salford.

The 31-year-old had to be helped from the pitch in the first half of
