Colin Healy and Emma Byrne confirmed in Gleeson's backroom team

Colin Healy and Emma Byrne have been confirmed as assistant coaches to Republic of Ireland manager Eileen Gleeson.

Byrne, Ireland's most-capped player having represented her country on 134 occasions between 1996 and 2017, and Healy, who played 13 times for his country and resigned as head coach of Cork City last May, were placed in the roles on an interim basis last September.

Gleeson was confirmed as permanent manager in December after six wins from six in charge scoring as the Republic earned promotion to UEFA Nations League A.

Now the FAI has moved to ensure further continuity ahead of the 2024 season, with Byrne specialising in goalkeeping coaching.

Also included as an assistant coach is Rhys Carr. The Welsh native is a UEFA A Licence graduate and currently works as a development coach at Wolves.

Performance coach Ivi Casagrande also returns to continue in her role along with performance psychologist Sarah Murray and nutritionist Brendan Egan.

Ireland will prepare for the European Championship qualifiers with upcoming friendlies against Italy (23 February) and Wales (27 February) later this month.
