Colby Covington vows to inflict 'so much pain' on Jorge Masvidal for 'lying' to the media

Colby Covington has vowed to leave Jorge Masvidal in a world of ‘pain’ as he promised ‘he’s not going to be the same person ever again’.

The two former teammates will finally settle their differences in the octagon this weekend in the main event of UFC 272 in Las Vegas.

Ahead of the fight, Gamebred has let it be known that he will be bringing bad intentions with him into the cage.

In response, Covington insisted Masvidal is in for a very long night once the cage door closes on Saturday night.

He told TMZ: “I see a lot of pain.

“I’m going to inflict so much pain on Jorge Masvidal. He’s not going to be the same person ever again. He keeps talking about a baptism.

“There’s not going to be a baptism. It’s going to be a funeral. It’s Jorge Masvidal’s career-ending funeral.

“It’s going to be violent, and I’m not going to finish it quick.

“I could easily finish it quick because I’d do it all the time behind closed doors when we used to train.

“But this one, I’m going to drag it out. I’m going to make him suffer and it’ll probably be the first time in UFC history you see a guy in a main event just verbally tap out and say he can’t take no more of a beating.”

Covington, who used to train at American Top Team, wants to make an example of Masvidal.

He has accused his rival of ‘lying’ to the media that he ‘ripped off’ one of his coaches that helped him as he prepared for his interim title fight against Rafael dos Anjos in June 2018.

Asked why he feels in such a way, he replied: “To hold this kid accountable for all the reckless words he said to the media – he’s been lying to everybody the whole time.
