Khamzat Chimaev slams Colby Covington in two-word tweet after dominant Jorge Masvidal win

Khamzat Chimaev wasted little in time in taking to social media and slamming Colby Covington‘s performance after Saturday’s dominant victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 in Las Vegas.

Covington, 34, was utterly dominant from the first bell to the last, using his grappling and wrestling to his advantage against former team-mate Masvidal.

The 33-year-old American claimed the bragging rights with a unanimous decision verdict courtesy of the judges’ scorecards but the manner of his victory didn’t impress Chimaev.

Keeping it short and simple, he wrote on Twitter: “Bull***t fight.”

It comes after UFC president Dana White announced via live broadcast on ESPN that Chimaev will take on Gilbert Burns next month at UFC 273 in April.

Chimaev, 28, is currently undefeated in the UFC.

A win over Burns will extend his professional MMA record to 11-0.

And it will be his fifth win on the trot as part of the UFC, having previously competed for the likes of Brave CF and Fight Club Rush.

Burns, meanwhile, is a decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who boasts a total of eight submission victories across all competitions.

But Chimaev insists he doesn’t bother to look at the numbers as he claims they ‘mean nothing’ in the grand scheme of things.

In an exclusive interview with RT Sport, he said: “All those numbers mean nothing. 

“To be honest, I don’t see a real challenge in him. We’ll see. Everything may happen in a fight, but I’m confident, as usual.

“I think I will just smash him with my skills and power. I feel that way. He might feel different, but I will go there and do what I did the last time.

“I think they will give us a great fight. Masvidal is a slight favourite for me, but Colby is also a tough guy. He fights well.

“We’ll see.
