Colby Covington gives his honest opinion about Khamzat Chimaev

UFC welterweight star Colby Covington has rejected calls for a fight against rising prospect Khamzat Chimaev.

The last four months have been pretty eventful for Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington. In the wake of his narrow defeat to rival Kamaru Usman at UFC 268, the former interim title holder quickly got back into action at UFC 272.

In the main event at T-Mobile Arena, Covington put on a real show to defeat ex-best friend Jorge Masvidal in their intense Las Vegas grudge match.

While he proceeded to call for a showdown with Dustin Poirier, another former comrade of his at American Top Team, the door is open for Colby to essentially do whatever he wants at 170 pounds – or perhaps even 185.

Of course, a trilogy bout with Usman may not be on the cards right now, but one or two more big wins could vault him back into contention.

During a recent podcast appearance the idea was suggested to Covington that he could battle Khamzat Chimaev in the future. In response, Colby didn’t hold back when voicing his opinion on the Chechen.

“I’m sorry, c*mshot, that your mom named you that – that’s a terrible name to have. When you actually get some credible wins then we can talk but dude, this guy has no credible wins.

“He has three fights in the UFC, no contender fights, no top 10 wins. Why are we even talking about this guy? Look at all my fights: title fight after title fight.”

“Bro the guy hasn’t fought in over a year. I just fought two times in four months – title fight with Marty in November, title fight with f***ing Jorge in March.”

A contender fight was called for and a contender fight is precisely what ‘Borz’ is going to get.
