Cody Rhodes teases bringing back winged-eagle WWE title belt

Cody Rhodes has commented on the possibility of him being the man to bring back a classic look for any new WWE Championship design. 

Since Roman Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and became the undisputed WWE Universal Champion, fans have been left wondering what will happen to WWE’s world titles going forward. 

Reports coming out of WrestleMania suggest that Roman’s reign with both titles is set to be a short-term angle and at some point, they will go back to having world titles for both Raw and SmackDown, and separate champions.

One of the leading candidates on the red brand to be next in line for a world title shot is Cody Rhodes, who has made no secret of the fact that he has his sight sets on becoming WWE Champion now that he has returned to the company.

Speaking on WWE After The Bell, Rhodes discussed his WWE Title aspirations and teased fans that he’d like to bring back the classic 1990s winged-eagle design for the belt. 

I think there’s a particular design of the WWE Championship that people are very fond of. I’d say I did do that once with the Intercontinental title, it took a lot of work but it was the right call once we got there. I think there’s a particular design of the WWE Championship that people are very fond of. I’d say hypothetically it really would be something to achieve the ultimate industry dream, being the best of the best ever in terms of that moment in time, and then perhaps give it a fresh coat of paint with the winged eagle (title). That would just be something, that’s all I can really say.”
