Cody Rhodes injury: Heartbreaking update on his future after completely tearing his pec

WWE announced before Hell in a Cell last night that Cody Rhodes had completely torn his right pectoral muscle earlier in the week.

Despite sustaining the horror injury just a few days prior, Cody wrestled his main event match with Seth Rollins, with the bout being contested inside Hell in a Cell.

It was immediately clear that Rhodes was in some pain, as when he removed his jacket and revealed his huge bruising, the crowd was shocked into silence.

And now, a new update has emerged on Cody’s status, and unfortunately, it isn’t good news for either WWE or Rhodes himself.

In a heartbreaking update, Fightful Select is reporting that Rhodes is set to undergo surgery later on this week.

We’ve learned that as of this morning, Cody Rhodes is slated to undergo surgery to repair the torn pectoral muscle this Thursday.

The former AEW star is going to address his injury status on Monday Night Raw tonight, where he’ll likely reveal that he’s going to need surgery.

The recovery time won’t be quick, as Fightful explains that other WWE Superstars to have undergone surgery for torn pecs have been out for anywhere between four and six months.

Notable pectoral injuries in pro wrestling included Triple H (five months out), Elias (five months), Hiromu Takahashi (six months), and John Cena’s miraculous recovery in less than four months.

Cody Rhodes was likely to be featured in several big feuds for WWE this summer, so the creative team will be tasked with coming up with new plans for the main event scene in due course.

Cody cut an emotional and passionate promo to the fans in Chicago after the show went off the air last night, where you could hear how gutted he was. You can check that out by clicking right here.
