Cody Gakpo transfer latest as Rangers set to land Champions League boost with winger nearing PSV exit

Rangers have landed a potential boost ahead of their crucial Champions League playoff second leg against PSV Eindhoven with the Eredivisie outfit poised to lose their star man Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo has been on Manchester United 's radar throughout the summer as they look to add quality to a squad that missed out on the Premier League top four last season. And now Dutch outlet Dagblad state that Gakpo’s entourage and Erik ten Hag's side have now agreed on what his personal terms will be if he was to secure a move to Old Trafford.

United submitted a £34million bid for the winger last week, but their proposal falls short of PSV's valuation, who are holding out for at least £42m in order to let Gakpo leave. The attacker provided an assist in PSV's first leg against Rangers, while he also played an important role in the Dutch side beating Monaco in the third qualifying round.

The Netherlands international starred for PSV last season, scoring 21 goals and registering 15 assists in 47 outings in all competitions so there's plenty reason for Gio van Bronckhorst's side to hope the of the 23-year-old doesn't feature on Wednesday evening.

Rangers are just 90 minutes of football away from reaching the Champions League group stages for the first time in 12 years should they progress past PSV at the Philips Stadion with the tie finely poised at 2-2 from the first leg.

The likelihood of Gakpo remaining in Eindhoven could also go down to the result with the Gers as a move to England wouldn't guarantee a crack at Europe's elite competition.
