Clyde in "serious danger" of administration as Bully Wee plead with fans to support crowdfunder

Clyde have launched a crowdfunder in a desperate bid to stave off administration.

The Bully Wee have informed fans that they have a financial deficit of £55,000 - a total which stood around £200,000 earlier this year before significant contributions from donors brought that figure down.

However, the League Two club - who recently appointed Darren Young as their new manager - remain in the red and admit that while it is tough to ask for financial support from fans in the run up to Christmas, they need all the help they can get to support the club, which they say has been "critically damaged".

The crisis-hit club also saw Allan Maitland leave his role as chairman last month.

The news comes after SPFL League One sides Dumbarton and Inverness Caledonian Thistle became insolvent in recent weeks.

A statement from Clyde FC read: "The club requires to inform supporters, and football fans alike, that the previously intimated financial deficit is now £55,000. The generosity of donors to date has contributed £135,000, which includes a recent £15,000 donation by supporters, to reduce the gap but a significant deficit remains.

"A credible late intervention to bridge that gap has fallen through and it is now necessary to move to general crowdfunding.

"The reason for this situation has been well documented, but the fact is this club, important to so many, is now in serious danger.

"A request for support through crowdfunding is now being launched and will run until the deficit is closed. Efforts will continue in the background to obtain material donations to reduce the burden on the majority, but we cannot defer any longer.
