Clyde boss makes goalkeeper admission after draw with Queen's Park

Clyde manager Danny Lennon admits he would have expected goalkeeper Neil Parry to have stopped Queen’s Park’s goal in a 1-1 League One draw with his side.

Michael Doyle netted for the Spiders at Broadwood before a David Goodwillie penalty brought the home side back on level terms.

Since a sobering Scottish Cup exit to West of Scotland Football League side Clydebank in November, Lennon’s men have lost just once in six matches and twice in 10 games.

Doyle’s goal came from a Queen’s corner, his header palmed by Parry and onto a Clyde defender before it trundled into the net. Lennon was disappointed with the manner of the goal but insists a draw was probably a fair outcome for the game.

He said: “You look at opportunities in terms of what the goalkeepers had to do. There wasn’t a lot in it at either end. We had a very good shape about us.

“In terms of the overall match itself, I think a draw was a fair result. I would expect someone of Neil’s quality to deal with the goal and hold the shot to be honest.

“But I haven’t spoke to him on it.

“Once again, the players showed character to go up the other end and get themselves into dangerous areas and we get the penalty.

“To pick up a very valuable point in a very competitive league is what it is all about.”
