Clonmel to inspect ahead of Thursday's card

There will be a 7.30am inspection to determine if Thursday's seven-race card at Clonmel can go ahead, with the going at the track currently heavy following recent heavy rain.

The ground remains fit for racing but officials have opted for a morning look, prior to the scheduled afternoon action at the Co Tipperary venue.

Lorcan Wyer, IHRB clerk of the course at Clonmel said: "Following declarations on Tuesday, we've had a further 10mm of rain at Clonmel. The ground at declarations was heavy and it remains fit for racing at present but is very deep and testing ground.

"We do have six yards of fresh ground on both tracks but the latest forecast is for further heavy rain tonight and at the moment it is difficult to determine how much rain we’ll get.

"The extra 10mm since Tuesday means we’ve had 38mm since our previous fixture. We will have a 7.30am inspection tomorrow morning [Thursday] to assess the situation."
