Clement Lenglet Tottenham transfer, Djed Spence compromise and the dilemma facing Fabio Paratici
Tottenham have been incredibly active in the transfer market so far this summer with four new arrivals signing on the dotted line. Having seen Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma clinch moves to N17 last month, the first day of July saw Richarlison join from Everton in a deal worth £60million including add-ons.
Antonio Conte's side aren't finished in the transfer market just yet, still requiring a new left-sided centre-back, right wing-back and wherever else they believe needs strengthening ahead of the summer deadline. Barcelona's Clement Lenglet could be the man to solve the centre-back requirement with Spurs in discussions over a loan move for the French international.
At right wing-back, the player all Tottenham fans want to come in through the door is Middlesbrough's Djed Spence after a standout campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest. Agreeing on a fee at present looks to be a stumbling block and that means one side is going to have to compromise on Middlesbrough's transfer valuation if a deal is to get over the line.
