A 'clearly drunk' Jet2 passenger told police he had been asleep when he was found slumped in his seat. Police were called following reports of a 'drunk and verbally abusive' group on a flight which was due to fly to Turkey, a court heard.

Officers found Kieron Jordan with sunglasses worn over his eyes. It was an incident which sparked a bizarre crime spree over a matter of months, which would also see the 37-year-old racially abuse a bouncer and terrify a shop worker with a knife.

He was ultimately jailed for his behaviour last week, Leeds Live reports. Leeds Crown Court heard that Kieron was arrested for being drunk on an aircraft on May 20, 2022.

Prosecutor Lydia Carroll told the court on Wednesday (December 13) that cabin crew called police officers to the plane due to fly to Turkey with reports that a 'group were drunk and being verbally abusive, causing disruption, drinking their own alcohol on board'. She added: "The defendant was found and was seen slumped in his seat wearing sunglasses.

"He was asked to come out of the air craft and put under arrest but repeatedly said he didn't understand and not to arrest him. The officer noted his speech was slurred and his movements were slow and that he was clearly drunk."

In his interview, Jordan, denied being drunk and said he had been asleep when he was arrested. Two months later on July 9, 2022, Jordan set about his next crime.
