Ciarán Purdy wins silver at European U23 Rowing Championships
Ireland's Ciarán Purdy won the silver medal at the European Under-23 Rowing Championships in Belgium on Sunday.
The lightweight single sculler from Queen’s University Belfast produced an impressive surge in the final 500 metres to claim second.
In July Purdy and Hugh Moore won lightweight double silver at the World Rowing Under-23 Championships in Italy.
Elsewhere Niamh Coffey won her B final of the lightweight single to finish seventh overall, while Ryan Spelman took 10th in the men’s single sculls.
