Ciara Mageean takes silver in Commonwealth 1500m
Ciara Mageean has claimed silver in the 1500m after running a season's best at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The 30-year-old Down woman clocked a time of 4:04.14 to take silver behind GB's Laura Muir at the Alexander Stadium.
Australia's Abbey Caldwell took bronze in a time of 4:04.75, beating her compatriot Linden Hall into fourth place.
Heavy favourite Muir claimed gold in a time of 4:02.75.
For Mageean - a European bronze medallist in the 1500m in Amsterdam in 2016 - it's a first Commonwealth medal at the third time of asking, having finished fifth in the Gold Coast four years ago.
