Christopher Jullien admits Celtic exit for Montpellier has given him 'ants in his legs'

Christopher Jullien says he has “ants in his legs” after leaving Celtic for Montpellier.

The French centre back’s departure from the Premiership champions has been confirmed after he underwent a medical with the Ligue 1 outfit earlier today. The fact that it went smoothly will come as a relief to Jullien, who saw a move to Schalke in Germany fall through earlier this summer before being included in the Hoops squad for their pre-season tour.

Jullien was signed for £7million by Neil Lennon back in June 2018 and was a key part of the Hoops defence under the Northern irishman. However, a serious knee injury ruled him out long term and he only made his return to action under Ange Postecoglou during a Scottish Cup fourth round win over Raith Rovers last February. Jullien came on to a rapturous reception from the home fans, but has since struggled to force his way back into the team.

The permanent signing of Carter-Vickers from Tottenham only reinforced that. Schlake looked set to be Jullien’s next destination, but he now finds himself back in the French top flight, four years after departing.

“I am very happy to join MHSC,” he said. “I immediately felt a warm spirit, everyone welcomed me. Now I can’t wait to get started.” Jullien explained.

“I have ants in my legs. I left Ligue 1 quite a while ago now and I’m happy to be back.

“A new page is opening here in Montpellier and I am very happy about it. I can’t wait to meet the Montpellier supporters at the State de la Mosson and I hope
