Christmas warning over 'deadly' cut-price BBL surgery after tragedy of mum in Turkey

Top medics and politicians have issued a chilling Christmas warning over the 'potentially deadly' risk of cut-price Brazilian Butt Lift surgery, saying: "A cheap deal is not worth risking your life over."

It follows the harrowing case of a mum who went to Turkey for surgery, but died days later after 'woeful' post-operative care. A coroner ruled Demi Leigh-Regan Agoglia died of misadventure 'contributed to by neglect' after an inquest into her death.

The 26 year-old mother-of-three, from Little Hulton, Salford, found 'Comfort Zone Surgery' advertised in Turkey on either Facebook or Instagram and had 'decided to book herself in', despite her family urging her not to and telling her she didn't need any surgery, the inquest heard.

England's top medic, Professor Sir Stephen Powis, has now issued an urgent warning. He said: "While many people's social media feeds will be full of enticing looking offers in the run-up to Christmas, the reality is these bargain basement cosmetic procedures are potentially deadly."

The inquest heard Ms Agoglia was 'shaking and cold' after her procedure. She and her then boyfriend were put up in a 'residential villa' ahead of the surgery and taken to a hospital in Turkey via taxi.

But Ms Agoglia later collapsed and passed away. The Turkish authorities, said coroner professor John Pollard, failed to co-operate with the coronial process. He vowed to write to the health secretary, Wes Streeting, 'to stop this frankly barbaric medical practice being conducted to such low standards'.
