Chris Wood sends warning to Manchester United ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Nottingham Forest's hat-trick hero Chris Wood has warned Manchester United they will be facing a fired-up side when they make the trip to the City Ground on Saturday.

Forest beat Newcastle 3-1 in their Boxing Day Premier League clash, with Wood bagging all three goals for his side. It moved Forest a bit safer from the drop zone, but they've got a huge game against United up next.

Wood said this is just the beginning for Forest under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo and they can't relax now. He shared with Forest TV: "It's most definitely a step in the right direction. I would never say 'turned a corner' because it is only one game and we need to remember than one game doesn't make four or five.

"We need to work ahead and it's not going to guarantee that we're going to play well in the next game. We have to make sure we play well in the next game. It's only on us as players and staff and the fans getting behind us, that really helps.

"But I'm sure it will be bouncing, the City Ground, come the 30th."

Forest came back strong after being down early in the game, showing they've got guts and some slick moves, especially when Wood finished off a great pass from former United winger Anthony Elanga.

The forward, who used to play for Newcastle before joining the City Ground team this summer, skillfully scored two goals after fine passes from Elanga and Murillo. He said: "Look, we know Newcastle are a top, top side I know it first had and we knew coming here was going to be very tough. They're a good side, good players."
