Chris Wilder speaks out ahead of Middlesbrough’s clash with Coventry City

Chris Wilder has responded to his team’s defeat on Monday by telling The Northern Echo that ‘everything is up for grabs’ and that there is a ‘reaction’ if he can’t get more from his players – meaning he could switch things up for their next game.

While the Boro boss also labelled his side ‘excellent’ in terms of their attitude, he wasn’t happy with the manner in which his new team lost against Blackburn. Rovers have now soared back into an automatic promotion spot for the time being and Middlesbrough are still hoping to try and seal a play-off place.

A loss to someone so close to them in the division will have hurt but the side can go again this weekend, as they face someone else relatively close to them in Coventry City. A win could put them back into the top six – so it is vital for Chris Wilder’s team that they manage to seal the victory.

In order to do so, the former Sheffield United boss could bring in some fresh faces and mix things up, with the boss himself admitting that there could be a ‘reaction’ after suffering a loss to Blackburn.

Boro certainly have plenty of talent in their squad and there are a number of bodies for the Championship side to choose from if they need to. After a busy transfer window, they have even more new faces that they could select too – and it isn’t a bad situation for Wilder to have.
