Chris Weidman confirms he isn't retiring from MMA as he pushes for UFC comeback

Chris Weidman has confirmed he isn’t retiring from mixed martial arts and still wants to push for a UFC comeback.

Within the context of the best middleweights in UFC history, Chris Weidman is a name that many would consider to be in the mix.

You certainly wouldn’t think it from his recent record, though, given that he’s on a 2-6 stretch in his last eight – with five of those defeats coming via knockout.

The latest, however, went down in April 2021 at UFC 261. Weidman was coming off the back of a much needed win over Omari Akhmedov and when put up against Uriah Hall, a man he’d already beaten a decade prior on the regional scene, his hope was that he could try and build some momentum on his way to another crack at the title.

Unfortunately, those plans came crashing down when he suffered a nasty leg break with just 17 seconds gone in the fight.

It served as a cruel irony for the man who had inflicted a similar injury on Anderson Silva back in the day, with the popular opinion being that Weidman wouldn’t compete again after such a notable setback.

Alas, this is a man who never gives up, as he reiterated when asked about whether he plans on heading towards retirement in the near future.
