Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams has the makings of an all-time classic

British boxing is back with a bang this weekend as Chris Eubank Jr faces rival Liam Williams after the coronavirus pandemic brought a temporary halt to proceedings.

With the Omicron variant wreaking havoc across western Europe, the BBBofC decided to suspend all shows in January, which inevitably just pushed everything back a month as promoters rushed to reschedule their events.

Thankfully the wait is almost finally over as fans are in for a real treat tomorrow night.

Eubank Jr will step into the Dragon’s lair as he takes on the Welshman at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

With no belts on the line there is nothing but pride at stake for both men who will be well aware they cannot afford to lose tomorrow night or watch their world title aspirations vanish in a puff of smoke.

For Eubank, he will finally get the chance to step out of his father’s shadow, who has been noticeably absent in the build-up to this fight.

The Brighton boxer has warned his British rival that he is going to make ‘a big statement’ ahead of the grudge match on Saturday.

He said: “I’m going out there to make a big statement and the way that I’m going to do it will cause serious issues in the middleweight division.

“It will send a message to all the middleweight champions out there and then I’m coming for their belts.”

But in Williams, he faces a dangerous opponent with the support of an entire nation behind him, despite his most recent setback against Demetrius Andrade.

Staring across the ring from him will be a man he also knows only too well – his former trainer Adam Booth.

Booth used to train Eubank for six months before they split six years ago.

Now he will be plotting his downfall in the opposite corner when they step into the ring.
