The positive test was conducted by VADA (The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) , with the 26-year-old's sample found to contain banned substance clomifene. It is a drug primarily for pregnant women, but it is known to have boosts for muscle development and training recovery.

His B-sample is yet to be tested meaning no rule violation has occurred as of yet. As a result, The British Boxing Board of Control have prohibited the fight from taking place, this is despite Benn testing negative in tests conducted this week by the UK Anti-Doping Agency.

According to promoters Matchroom, both fighters are keen to push forward with the fight, with their lawyers currently locked in negotiations with the British boxing authorities.
