Chiefs eye AmaZulu scalp in MTN8: 'Dynamics will be different because it's a cup game'

Kaizer Chiefs right-back Dillan Solomons does not believe they have to change their style of play as they host AmaZulu in an MTN8 first leg semi-final encounter on Sunday.

With Chiefs playing at home, the pressure will be on and Solomons knows that they need to produce a good performance to keep the Amakhosi faithful happy.

A good campaign for Amakhosi in this cup competition will go a long way in ending their seven-year trophy drought.

"I don't think we have to change our identity. We want to play the same all the time although the dynamics will be different because it's a cup game," said Solomons. 

"We know that we have to go out there and win. We are playing the first leg at home and we can't let anyone come with anything when we are home."

A previous league encounter between the two sides ended in a 0-0 draw, with the 26-year-old missing a penalty. He is, however, ready to make amends for that and not shy away from responsibility.

"You have to take these things in football. It was disappointing for me with the way I missed. I could have at least forced the 'keeper to make a save. 

"The games are coming thick and fast, so there's no time to think about it. It's about picking myself up and trying to do well for the team as well."

With question marks over his best position, Solomons says his preferred position is right-back, as it's a position he has adapted to over the past year.

"I think I prefer to play right-back as I've done it the past year and I feel comfortable playing right-back." 

With Chiefs being on a lengthy trophy drought, and with Solomons recently joining from Swallows in the off-season, he wants to be remembered as part of the team that ended the almost decade-long spell.
