Chiefs charged by PSL DC after angry fans hurled objects following defeat to TS Galaxy
The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has levied charges against Kaizer Chiefs in response to the misconduct exhibited by their fans following their 1-0 DStv Premiership loss to TS Galaxy on Sunday.
Amakhosi fans arrived at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit for the game hoping for their team to secure their first league victory of the 2023/24 season.
Instead, the Glamour Boys were defeated by a lone goal, triggering a surge of emotions among their supporters. Some expressed their frustration by throwing objects towards coach Molefi Ntseki.
In response to this incident, Ntseki had to be escorted off the field by the police. The PSL Disciplinary Committee has now taken swift action in light of these events.
"I confirm that I preferred charges of misconduct against Kaizer Chiefs Football Club," the league's prosecutor Advocate Zola Majavu said on Tuesday.
"This is as a result of a missile-throwing incident that transpired in the match between [Chiefs] and TS Galaxy this past Sunday.
"They [Chiefs] have been scheduled to appear before the PSL DC on Tuesday, 29 August."
"Once the DC has pronounced its verdict and the matter is finalised, I will then give then give a further update."
Meanwhile, Chiefs return to Premiership action on Saturday, 26 August against AmaZulu at FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is at 17:30.
