Chester train station LIVE as services resume following 'security alert'

Trains out of Chester train station were suspended on Friday night following a 'security alert' at the station.

A spokesperson for National Rail posted on X earlier: "Trains are currently unable to call at Chester due to a security alert at this station."

Services to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport were among those affected, according to information on the National Rail website.

Services resumed at around 8pm, but national Rail has said that "major disruption" is expected throughout the evening.
