Cherneka Johnson left drenched in blood after brutal Susie Ramadan fight
Australian boxer Cherneka Johnson was left covered in blood after a brutal fight against Susie Ramadan.
The pair were fighting on the George Kambosos vs Devin Haney undercard at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.
The IBF super bantamweight world title, held by Johnson after a victory against Melissa Esquivel in April, was on the line.
Johnson managed to retain her title, beating Ramadan with a unanimous points decision, but the fight was certainly not straightforward.
A clash of heads left Johnson with a deep gash above her eyebrow in the second round.
Blood began pouring out of the cut, leaving her and Ramadan covered in blood.
Johnson was unable to see, but after being patched up by her team, she was able to continue.
By the end of the fight, blood had stopped streaming out of the gash, but it was still shockingly visible on her face.
