Cheltenham Festival Day One results, winners and places in FULL as State Man shines for Willie Mullins
The 2024 Cheltenham Festival is off to a flyer, with punters from all over the globe flocking to the world famous Gloucestershire race track on day one.
And it was a terrific day for Irish horse racing trainer Willie Mullins, who had three winners, including the prestigious Unibet Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy. In the first race of the afternoon, Rachel Blackmore led Henry De Bromhead's Slade Steel (9/2) to victory before Mullins' Gaelic Warrior did the business in the Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.
Chianti Classico (6/1) then ran a fine race to emerge victorious in the Premier Handicap Chase before Mullins got his hands on the Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy, with heavy favourite State Man living up to the billing by winning comfortably. Mullins then claimed his final victory of the day when Lossiemouth edged out a solid run from TellMeSomethingGirl to come out on top in the Mare's hurdle.
