Cheltenham Festival Day 1 results LIVE as Willie Mullins goes for glory in the Champion Hurdle

Yep, it’s the 2026 edition of the Cheltenham Festival and some say it will be bigger and better than ever.
And like day one of every festival Prestbury Park has served up, it’s time for the Champion Hurdle.
Our men Garry Owen and Andy Jones will be taking you through all the day’s racing results while also conjuring some top tips that may even make yourselves a quid or two.
Garry is napping Willie Mullins’ Poniros in the 4:00 Champion Hurdle and we think it’s got a great chance.
Well, it is the magician Mullins after all.

"PONIROS can spring another surprise for Willie Mullins in the Champion Hurdle on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival. The useful Flat racer was thrown into the deep end on his timber bow in last year’s Triumph here. Sent off a 100/1 shot in a hot renewal, he overcame all the odds to chin the well-fancied Lulamba. That win led to a re-match with Nicky Henderson’s charge in the Champion Juvenile at Punchestown. The bay put in another highly creditable shift despite going down by four lengths to his chief victim. The five-year-old was then returned to the level in the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot. That no longer appeared to be his game as he finished well down the field behind Ascending. Allowed to develop, he faced another big task on his return in the Irish Champion at Leopardstown. The five-year-old obviously needed the run but finished well to take fifth behind Br
