Chelsea: What happened to the three young brothers signed from Luton Town in 2012

It’s a monumentous summer for Chelsea Football Club.

Roman Abramovich is no longer at the helm with a consortium led by Todd Boehly taking over at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are now getting down to business, being linked with a double-swoop for Raheem Sterling and Nathan Ake.

It seems they will continue to splash the cash in order to compete for trophies in the coming years.

But that doesn’t mean the club won’t continue to give youngsters graduating from the academy an opportunity to play first-team football.

The likes of Mason Mount, Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek all played a key role in Chelsea’s 2021/22 campaign after coming through the youth system.

But you need to be extremely talented to make the step up to Chelsea’s first team. Most youngsters fall by the wayside and are released.

That happened to three young brothers signed from Luton Town 10 years ago.

Twelve-year-old twins Rio and Cole Dasilva, as well as their older 13-year-old brother Jay, were signed by the Blues for a five-figure sum each.

“This is a historic deal to see three brothers transferred together,” Gregg Broughton, Luton’s head of youth at the time, said.

“And now after six months, we are delighted that they have found a club where they are settled.”

If all three went on to represent Chelsea’s first-team, the value of the deal would increase to over £1million.
