Chelsea: Tuchel 'willing to sell' £59m Stamford Bridge star

Chelsea would be willing to cash in on striker Timo Werner this summer if the price is right, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The £59m-rated German moved to the Premier League in a £54m deal from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020, but he has scored just 10 top-flight goals in an underwhelming spell for the Blues.

When Werner made the switch from the Bundesliga, he was one of the best goal getters in European football having scored almost 100 times for Leipzig.

However, the 26-year-old simply hasn’t adapted to English football, and while his form has improved slightly, which has led to him starting the last eight league games – including against Everton on Sunday – he’s far from the finished article.

In 88 appearances for Chelsea, he’s found the net on just 23 occasions and while he’s added 21 assists during that period, he was brought in to help the Londoners challenge for the Premier League title.

As a result, Brown reckons that Chelsea might be tempted to sell the German when the window reopens for business, although he doesn’t think that anyone will match their asking price following Werner’s disappointing spell in the Premier League.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If a team were to come in with a really good offer for Timo Werner, I think Chelsea would sell this summer, but I don’t think there is a team out there who will come in with a big offer, because he hasn’t really done it this season to justify it, so I think for the time being he will stay.”

According to Sport1, Werner is open to leaving Chelsea this summer with a return to Germany firmly on the cards.

The report says that Chelsea are willing to accept around £34m for his
