Chelsea transfer round-up as Thomas Tuchel weighs up double Man City raid

Thomas Tuchel is weighing up a remarkable double raid on champions Manchester City – for unsettled England winger Raheem Sterling AND striker Gabriel Jesus.

With new owner Todd Boehly's £200 million war chest at his disposal, and the likelihood of him generating even more buying power by offloading Romelu Lukaku and possibly Jorginho, Tuchel is thinking big.

With the summer window now open, it promises to be a fascinating few weeks at Stamford Bridge. Here's a run-down of all the latest rumours and speculation surrounding Chelsea's transfer business.

Chelsea believe they could bring Raheem Sterling back to west London, where his talent blossomed in QPR's youth team.

And now the London Evening Standard report the Blues are exploring a move to gazump Arsenal and Tottenham in the race for City striker Gabriel Jesus as well.

There is a growing concern at the Etihad that Sterling could quit the champions this summer over growing frustration that he is no longer regarded as automatic first choice in Pep Guardiola's optimum starting XI.

Sterling, 27, was England's player of the tournament at Euro 2020 but made only 23 Premier League starts for City in the 2021-22 campaign. Although he scored 17 goals in all competitions, The Sun reported his frustration has intensified since he was omitted from Guardiola's starting XI in both legs of the Champions League semi-final defeat by Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants, along with El Clasico rivals Barcelona, are said to be monitoring Sterling's situation at City, where he has just 12 months left on his £300,000-a-week deal. Sterling would like to clarify his future after England's summer programme ends with the Nations League tie against Hungary on Tuesday night.
