Paul Ince has described Declan Rice as the best midfielder in the Premier League on recent form.

The 23-year-old, who was released by Chelsea when he was a teenager and making his way through the academy system, has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract with West Ham United and continues to be linked with a move away from the London Stadium.

understands that Chelsea are long-term admirers of Rice and could push to make a move for the England international at the end of the season when the summer transfer window opens.

Rice has been in outstanding form for the Hammers this season, carrying on his impressive displays at the Euros last summer for England. He has effectively established as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent times.

Ince, though, thinks Rice is indeed the best midfield player in the English top-flight at the moment - in a verdict that has given Chelsea a fresh incentive to sign the West Ham star.
