Chelsea: ‘Recent contact made’ with agent of £30m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante will likely be a target of Paris Saint-Germain in future transfer windows with the 31-year-old already being contacted by the Ligue 1 giants, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Kante has been a central figure to Chelsea’s success over the past six years but could find himself moving on to a new club.

The 53-cap France international recently rejected Chelsea’s offer of a two-year deal with the option of a 12-month extension, according to The Athletic, with his current agreement set to expire next summer.

The report states that Kante wants a three-year guarantee at Stamford Bridge to go with the optional year, terms proposed during the final days of Roman Abramovich’s reign.

However, former manager Thomas Tuchel has previously said that Kante’s injury record will affect the length of the deal he is offered.

Tuchel was controversially sacked last week with Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter brought in to replace him.

Kante, however, is yet to play under his new manager and has not taken to the field since the 2-2 draw with Tottenham back in August.

The Times reported in the summer that PSG were continuing to monitor the player’s situation and held a long-standing interest in the former Leicester City ace.

Phillips understands that PSG will be looking to take advantage of the player’s current situation.

The journalist adds that there has already been recent contact made with Kante’s representatives and that more could arrive if the situation is left unresolved.
