Chelsea player ratings vs Brentford: Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger picked apart as Timo Werner frustrates

It was a dismal afternoon for Chelsea as they were hammered 4-1 at home by west London rivals Brentford.

Here’s how Thomas Tuchel’s side rated at Stamford Bridge...

Edouard Mendy 5

Let down by his defenders, who left him totally exposed for all four goals. Won’t be happy about being beaten at his near post for Janelt’s second.

Cesar Azpilicueta 5

Got sucked in to leave Janelt in space for Brentford’s goal. Completely out of the picture when Eriksen scored.

Thiago Silva 5

Far from his best day at the office. Part of a defence that was picked apart by the pace of Brentford’s breaks.

Toni Rudiger 5

Scored an absolute worldie and then watched on as Brentford tore Chelsea apart. Can’t help but think his wild celebrations fed into a slackening off of the entire team.

Marcos Alonso 5

Very involved from an attacking sense and asked plenty of questions of Brentford’s defence before being subbed in the second half.

N’Golo Kante 6

Had he been a bit savvier, he might have won a first half penalty. Nothing like as effective as usual.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 5

Fashioned one of Chelsea’s few chances in the first half with his run from deep. Didn’t have enough impact on the game.

Mason Mount 6

Should have done better with a first-half chance. His runs caused Brentford some problems when cutting inside Ziyech, but didn’t do enough when in good positions.

Hakim Ziyech 6

Playing in his preferred system, he struggled to stretch Brentford until he was switched to the left hand side when he started to do damage.

Kai Havertz 6

Dropped deep to get involved and link play. Thought he’d scored before the goal was ruled out for handball, then missed two golden opportunities to get Chelsea back in the game.

Timo Werner 4

Earned a rollicking from Rudiger
