Mason Mount and Jorginho "laughed" at Timo Werner after Chelsea miss

Mason Mount admits he and teammate Jorginho were "laughing" at Timo Werner as he fluffed his line in Chelsea's FA Cup semi-final win.

The Blues saw off Crystal Palace at Wembley to set up another final showdown with Liverpool, who got the better of them earlier this season in the Carabao Cup. Mount scored Chelsea's second after Ruben Loftus-Cheek had opened the scoring against the Eagles.

Werner had the opportunity to get himself on the scoresheet at Wembley but wasn't able to do so. The German hasn't been able to translate his prolific Bundesliga form to the Premier League since moving to Stamford Bridge, scoring just ten times this season.

It was the former RB Leipzig man who laid on Mount to score Chelsea's second. The Englishman hailed his teammate, who has found more form recently, and confessed he and Jorginho were chuckling when Werner was unable to convert an opportunity.

Mount told ITV Sport after the match: "He got me a little assist! He could have had another one [for Romelu Lukaku] and he could have had probably a couple of goals as well. He’s brilliant, he’s done so well over the last couple of games.

"You can see in the second half, he had a chance I think and he missed, me and Jorgi [Jorginho] were laughing on the bench, and he ran all the way back to the halfway line to win the ball back! That shows what kind of player he is and what he brings to the team."

Werner has been more prolific as of late. He'd only notched once in the league prior to April, but scored twice in the demolition of Southampton and also bagged a goal and an assist as Chelsea won the Bernabeu recently.

Romelu Lukaku was signed in the summer, but even his future under Thomas Tuchel has been cast into doubt. former Blue Joe
