Chelsea 'need up to six signings' amid Boehly takeover at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea will need to welcome up to six new signings to Stamford Bridge after Todd Boehly’s takeover officially goes through, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

An agreement is in place for a consortium led by Boehly to take the club off Roman Abramovich’s hands, with the £4.25billion deal expected to be confirmed later this month.

Jules Kounde could prove to be the first signing of the new era in west London as it is understood that Chelsea are hoping to strike a big-money deal with the central defender’s current employers, Sevilla, during the early stages of the upcoming transfer window.

Spanish sources have revealed Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel is also interested in Barcelona full-back Sergino Dest, opening the door for a potentially eye-catching swap deal involving Cesar Azpilicueta or Marcos Alonso heading in the opposite direction to the Nou Camp.

Chelsea have turned their attentions towards PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare after baulking at West Ham United’s £150million asking price for fellow central midfielder Declan Rice, while Tuchel is also keen to improve his options at the top end of the pitch.

RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku has gained an admirer in Tuchel, while Manchester United have joined the race for his signature.

It comes after Boehly has reportedly instructed Chelsea to kick-start their transfer plans as soon as his takeover is cleared.

Jones believes Chelsea need to make a host of changes to their squad, meaning they could be incredibly busy during Boehly’s first window at the helm.

The transfer insider is looking forward to discovering how the Blues will splash the cash under new ownership.
