Chelsea: Lukaku has now ‘told’ Inter he 'wants' Stamford Bridge exit

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, or his representatives, ‘have told’ Inter Milan that he wants to return to the club, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Lukaku only re-joined the Blues last summer in a club-record £97.5 million deal yet seems to be on the verge of making a remarkable U-turn after things quickly soured under Thomas Tuchel.

The 29-year-old struggled to cement a place in Chelsea’s starting XI last season and openly admitted halfway through the campaign that he wanted to play for Inter again one day.

And Lukaku is now edging ever closer to securing that wish, with Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello confirming talks are ongoing over a potential deal.

“Surely there is a great desire of the player to return, the economic and financial feasibility must be checked, and some technical problems must be solved,” said Antonello. “We will try to do it in the necessary time.”

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also provided an update on Lukaku’s situation, claiming that Inter made an ‘opening bid’ on June 15th.

Romano stated that the Nerazzurri offered a €5m loan fee to take the 6 foot 3 marksman off of Chelsea’s hands which was turned down by the capital club.

It’s believed that Inter are waiting to hear what Chelsea’s price tag is and that talks will resume imminently.

And Brown has disclosed that Lukaku’s people have told the Italian giants that his current club ‘will allow’ his comeback to happen.

He told GiveMeSport: “Those close to Inter, shall we say, are very confident that he’s coming back. He seems to have told them, or his people have told them, that he wants it to happen, and that Chelsea will allow it to happen.”
