Chelsea legend congratulates Emma Hayes after women’s team win FA Cup
Didier Drogba has praised manager Emma Hayes after she led Chelsea Women to victory in the FA Cup Final.
Chelsea battled against Manchester City in front of a record 49,094 crowd at Wembley.
City came from behind to force extra-time, with stunning goals from Sam Kerr, Lauren Hemp, Erin Cuthbert and Hayley Raso making for an entertaining 90 minutes of football.
Kerr then scored the winning goal in the 99th minute, securing a domestic double for Chelsea after The Blues earned their third successive Women’s Super League title last week.
Hayes has now won four FA Cups with Chelsea, along with five WSL titles, two League Cups and the 2017 WSL Spring Series. Her achievements have garnered praise from a legend of the game.
Drogba, who hit the back of the net 104 times in 254 appearances for Chelsea, posted on Twitter applauding Hayes.
“Thank you Emma, you mean everything to us,” he wrote. “Congratulations.”
