Chelsea 'interested' in signing 68-goal striker at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are interested in bringing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to the Premier League, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

That’s because Jones reckons that Barcelona’s attacking signings this summer could pave the way for the striker to leave the Nou Camp just six months after he arrived from Arsenal.

With Raheem Sterling Chelsea’s only attacking acquisition of the window, Thomas Tuchel is still desperate to bring in reinforcements before the market closes for business next month.

The Blues’ lack of inspiration was evident in their win at Everton on the opening day, which has led them targeting players like Aubameyang.

According to the Evening Standard, the west Londoners have been offered the chance to sign the 33-year-old, who only left Arsenal back in January, but could make a swift return to English football, with the arrivals of Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski likely to reduce his game-time.

Aubameyang and Tuchel worked together at Borussia Dortmund, with the Gabon international enjoying the best two seasons of his career under the German’s guidance.

Tuchel was quizzed about the possibility of reuniting with Aubameyang and admitted that he would be interested in the striker’s goals but played down the possibility of signing the ex-Gunners star.

But Jones reckons that Chelsea are keen, with Barcelona’s attacking additions likely to increase their chances of bringing him to the capital.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “They’re interested in him because they want players of a certain level and there’s not many out there.

“You look at the way Barcelona’s frontline is shaping up and there would be some reason to believe that he might he available.”
