Chelsea injury news and expected return dates vs Wolves: Christensen, Hudson-Odoi, Barkley

Chelsea will look to bounce back from the weekend’s defeat to Everton when they welcome Wolves to Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The Blues’ are in need of a victory with their place in the top four looking less secure following wins for Arsenal and Tottenham last time out.

However, Chelsea’s destiny is very much in their own hands as they’re five points clear of fifth-placed Spurs with just four games remaining. The west London outfit will hope to get a few players back from injury to not only help them secure a top-four finish, but also to provide a boost ahead of this month’s FA Cup final against Liverpool.

With that in mind, takes a look at the latest injury news from Cobham.

The Danish centre-back was expected to be back for Sunday’s defeat at Goodison Park. Instead, he missed his third successive game after sitting out matches against West Ham and Manchester United due to stomach cramps.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel revealed before the game at Everton that Christensen had returned to training and could be available, which of course wasn't the case. However, with six days between the loss on Merseyside and the Wolves clash, the 26-year-old is likely to play some part.

Barkley was also expected to be available for Sunday’s trip to Merseyside, the former Everton star also missed last Thursday’s draw at Man United due to illness. But returned to training before the Blues travelled to Goodison Park.

However, due to the short turnaround between fixtures, he wasn’t part of the matchday squad, but with a week’s break between games, he should be available for this weekend.
