Chelsea’s Premier League home match with Newcastle United has been rescheduled after the latest television selections were announced on Wednesday.
The Blues were set to host the Magpies at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, March 12 during the final third of the 2021/22 season.
The fixture will now take place on the following day though, with the game scheduled to be shown on Sky Sports. Kick-off is set for 2pm GMT.
Whilst Chelsea are certainly no strangers to having had their fixtures rearranged due to television coverage, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is likely to be frustrated with the latest selection.
With the game now set to take place a day later, it gives Chelsea less time to prepare for their Champions League clash with Lille the following week.
The reigning European champions travel to France to take on the French outfit in the second-leg of their last-16 meeting.
The pair are set to meet on Wednesday, March 16 - with the Blues’ preparation time now set to be reduced dramatically with the rearrangement of their fixture against Newcastle.
Considering that Chelsea have to recover and then travel to France, it is certainly not an ideal situation to be in.
