Chelsea deal for £200m star could 'come from nowhere' on deadline day

Chelsea could be set for a busy deadline day with Todd Boehly treating the final hours of the window like a “drafts day”, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

And the Blues reporter reckons that a move for PSG star Neymar could “come from nowhere” in the final hours of the window.

Thomas Tuchel stated before the Southampton defeat that he needs ‘more signings‘ before the market closes for business, which sounds like he’s expecting further arrivals through the Stamford Bridge door.

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Wesley Fofana on Wednesday afternoon, although Tuchel’s only attacking addition this summer is Raheem Sterling, which is a concern considering Chelsea have scored just six goals in their opening five games.

According to the Daily Mail, the Londoners are interested in a sensational deal to sign Neymar, with the report stating that the reigning Ligue 1 champions would be ‘open’ to letting the Brazilian leave.

With Neymar, who joined the French club for £200m, one of football’s household names, it would obviously be an incredibly difficult deal to complete, let alone this close to the deadline.

But Phillips reckons that Todd Boehly, who has already spent £240m in his first window in charge of Chelsea, could do something unexpected before the 11pm cut-off point.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Something interesting I was told on Wednesday is that Boehly is going to treat deadline day like drafts day.

“You can deem that as you will, but that sounds like he’s going to be busy, so maybe a Neymar can come from nowhere.”
