Chelsea: £50m star 'could become part' of De Ligt swap deal at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea offering midfielder Jorginho in a potential swap deal for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt cannot be ruled out, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

It is believed that the west London club have already offered the Italian giants Timo Werner and money for the Dutchman, and Jones would not be surprised to see Jorginho get added to the proposal.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have both De Ligt and Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar on their radar as Thomas Tuchel looks to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer.

Having lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the German needs at least two new central defenders going into the 2022/23 season, and it appears that he has made De Ligt a priority.

As per Di Marzio’s website, the Blues have offered Juventus around £25m plus Werner for the Netherlands international, a proposal the Serie A side have dismissed.

However, the two clubs are set for more talks, so a transfer does not look dead yet.

As well as Werner, Jones thinks Chelsea could also try to include Jorginho in a deal for De Ligt.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I think more than ever, we might see those player swaps coming into play, especially as Chelsea have so many players that they’re willing to push out.

“Obviously, so far, we’ve read about the possibility of Werner going in the other direction. I wouldn’t rule out Jorginho becoming part of that as well.”
