Chelsea: £30m star has 'everything Potter will appreciate' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea star Armando Broja is set to enjoy more opportunities to shine following Graham Potter’s move into the Stamford Bridge dugout from Brighton & Hove Albion, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

Potter was appointed as the west Londoners’ new boss on Thursday, just 24 hours after predecessor Thomas Tuchel was sacked by the hierarchy.

Having spent last term on loan with Premier League rivals Southampton, Broja has found opportunities hard to come by during the early stages of the campaign.

The frontman was offered just 100 minutes of action by former boss Tuchel following his return to Chelsea and is still searching for his first goal.

Despite his early season frustrations, Broja committed his long-term future to the Blues last week by penning a contract which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2028.

It comes after West Ham United, Newcastle United and Everton were interested in securing his services during the summer transfer window.

Although the Hammers were reportedly preparing a £30million bid for Broja in June, a move to the London Stadium failed to come to fruition.

Phillips believes this week’s managerial change could pay off for Broja as he will be afforded more action by Potter.

The journalist feels the 20-year-old will be highly-rated by the new Chelsea head coach as he has qualities that Potter is looking for.

Phillips told GIVEMESPORT: “I think Broja is going to be a lot more confident now, with Potter coming in, that he’s going to get more game-time.

“If you look at the kind of players that Potter enjoys using, Broja has got everything that Potter will appreciate in a striker.

“I think he’s going to have a lot more chances to play under the new manager.”
