Chelsea: £18m star 'frustrated with current situation' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is frustrated with his situation at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The £18m rated star got his fair share of opportunities under Thomas Tuchel last season, but he’s been restricted to just one appearance this term.

Having enjoyed a productive loan spell with Lorient the campaign before last, Chalobah returned to Chelsea ahead of the 2021-2022 season and made his Blues debut and Premier League bow in the space of three days.

He never quite establish himself as a regular in the Blues defence, but he still played 30 games in all competitions, lifting both the Super Cup and Club World Cup, which represented a positive year.

However, the arrivals of Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly and the fact Cesar Azpilicueta’s move to Barcelona collapsed, has restricted Chalobah to just one outing this season.

As a result, Tottenham, Roma and Inter Milan were all interested in signing Chalobah ahead of the window closing, although he ended up staying with his boyhood club.

But the 23-year-old’s frustrations have continued of late, with the ex-Huddersfield loanee an unused substitute in every game since the market closed for business.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s definitely frustrated with the situation. Obviously, there were a lot of rumours that Azpilicueta was going to be sold, and it looked highly likely he would be.

“Then, the owners had a chat with him, and Thomas Tuchel had a chat with him, and minds were changed, and he stayed.”

Despite each of his 31 Chelsea appearances coming under Tuchel, the managerial change could end up being a good thing for him.
