Chelsea: £160k-a-week star 'will be shocked' by Tuchel exit at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered a ‘big blow’ due to Thomas Tuchel’s sacking just days after his Stamford Bridge arrival, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Tuchel was allowed to spend more than £250million on bolstering his squad during the summer transfer window only for him to be dismissed as the Blues’ head coach on Wednesday.

Aubameyang joined Chelsea in a £10million deal which also saw Marcos Alonso head in the opposition direction to Barcelona on deadline day.

The striker admitted it would be ‘an honour and a joy’ to reunite with Tuchel, having previously played under the German at Borussia Dortmund, but their time together in west London proved to be short-lived.

Aubameyang, who has signed a contract worth £160,000-per-week, made his Chelsea debut during their 1-0 Champions League group stage defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday.

But Tuchel was axed less than 24 hours later, having lambasted his squad for showing no hunger or determination in Croatia.

It resulted in Todd Boehly, who led a £4.25billion takeover of Chelsea in May, appointing Graham Potter as the Blues’ new boss after catching the eye at Brighton & Hove Albion.

O’Rourke believes Tuchel’s sacking will have come as a surprise to Aubameyang and it could have a negative impact on his Chelsea career.

The journalist understands that the 33-year-old would have had the departed Blues chief’s support as he readjusted to the rigours of the Premier League.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he’s going to be shocked, like most of the Chelsea squad probably, that Thomas Tuchel has left so early into his career at Chelsea.
