Chatham Town Women announce the departure of co-manager Jess King

Chatham Town women’s co-manager Jess King has left before taking charge of a game.

King was installed as joint-boss alongside experienced manager Keith Boanas at the end of last season but a full-time opportunity within the game has come along that she’s accepted.

A Chatham statement said: “Chatham Town Women can confirm that co-manager Jess King has departed the club after accepting a full-time coaching opportunity.

“We thank Jess for everything she has given over the past two seasons and wish her every success in the next chapter.”

King’s management role with Chats was announced a month ago. She was to assist Boanas, who has taken on the additional job as the women’s technical director at the club.

She had been player/coach for Chats while also working as a talent ID coach with the FA and has until recently been a coach with the London City Lionesses under-21s, having previously been a player at Charlton Athletic WFC and before that spending time abroad in Canada and then at clubs in Europe.

King is currently working her way towards a UEFA A Licence qualification

Chatham’s pre-season programme starts on Sunday, July 12, away against Dorking Wanderers Women.

Charlton Athletic are the visitors the following weekend (July 19, 1pm) and Portsmouth visit the week after that (July 26, 2pm).

Chats also have home games against Herne Bay (July 29), Bromley (August 2) and Brentford (August 9) lined up ahead of their return to league action.
