Chatham Town continued their perfect start to life in the Isthmian Premier with victory over Cheshunt; Midfielder Jack Munns has signed ahead of games against Potters Bar and Dulwich Hamlet

Jamie Yila’s instant impact has helped Chatham Town make a great start to the season - but some of the old guard aren’t doing badly either.

It’s three wins from three for Chats since stepping up to the Isthmian Premier and Yila’s bagged a goal in every game, including their second in the 2-1 win at Cheshunt last Saturday.

Following their midweek win over Folkestone last Tuesday, Chats maintained their winning form at a team who were relegated last season.

Boss Kevin Hake said: “It was nice to come away from Cheshunt with the three points - they are a good side that have only recently come down from National South and their quality was clear for all to see who was there.

“I’m obviously happy with the great start that we’ve made since getting promoted. You can see the difference in the level and you have to fight to the final minute to get a result.

“I’m particularly pleased with how the new lads have been welcomed into the group and they have settled in well. We played a lot of pre-season games to try and bed them in quicker and introduce them into the team.

“It’s easy to look at the positive impact Jamie Yila has made to the squad but equally existing players like Dean Beckwith and Matt Bodkin have been immense.”

It was captain Jack Evans, with a trademark free-kick, who gave Chats a 41st-minute lead at Cheshunt before Yila added the second on the hour with a powerful header.

The hosts halved the deficit shortly after through a Joey Taylor own goal but Hake’s men took the points.

Chats face a busy weekend and Hake knows he’ll have to make full use of his squad to get them through.
